Abhati brings together two worlds to care for your hair: Indian ritual and Swiss technology.
At Abhati, we embrace the Indian notion that “healthy hair is rooted in the scalp”. This is why we use high-potency ingredients in our products, in tandem with Champi, the head massages we created to stimulate blood circulation at follicular level. You can see a Champi demonstration with Anju and her daughter here.
Hair health and shine are very important to Indian women: our hair is our main adornment, so we offer it all the care it deserves. Your scalp, like your skin, hosts important microbiomes (bacteria, fungi, viruses that live in and on the human body), which should not be stripped with harsh solvents but kept in balance to encourage shine, growth, and volume. With the all the necessary nutrients and proper care, hair can grow roughly 1.25cm on average per month.
To that end, our products have all been created to maintain the ideal PH-level 5 to 5.5 without harsh sulfates or silicones. We ensure that no buildup or residue is left from our products, and most importantly your hair is not over cleansed. And because we care as much for the environment as we do for your hair, our gentle sulfates are safe for the water systems.
So, if your hair just does not grow over a certain length and you want to give it an extra budge, start stimulating it by activating the blood flow at the roots. Add our Chambal Sacred Hair Oil for extra nourishment: just a few drops go a long way.
Along with our proprietary Abhati Complex™, we use the following ingredients to support hair growth:
Wild Turmeric: Thanks to its high concentration of niacin, turmeric is ideal to help stimulate hair growth.Niacin improves blood circulation, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicle.
Indian Gooseberry: This centuries-old secret to healthy hair is native throughout India. Amla, as it is also known, is a green fruit that is incredibly high in tannin and contains 20 times more concentrated vitamin C than an orange, as well as many powerful antioxidants.
Indian Gooseberry stimulates hair at the roots, where it contributes to lustrous hair growth, preserves pigment and helps prevent premature greying. We also harness its AHA acids for use as a gentle exfoliant, to encourage shine. Amla is an exceptional natural conditioner that infuses hair with nutrients that protect against environmental aggressors, whilst working to strengthen follicles, promote growth, help diminish split ends, dryness, and prevent dandruff.
Neem: Neem leaves possess regenerative properties that support healthy cell division and stimulate hair follicles. It also helps in countering hair thinning caused by pollution, stress, or medication. Neem also promotes thicker, stronger, and more luxuriant hair growth, while preventing hair loss. Neem leaves are a magical Indian beauty remedy that are a prized source of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals essential for healthy hair. This multitasker can help you address every skin and hair concern you may have. Plus, it is suitable for all hair types: oily, normal, dry, combination, or sensitive.
Tamarind: Tamarind is a superfruit, rich in antioxidants and packed with Vitamin C. It’s proven to help keep hair strong and prevent hair loss. Traditionally used in Ayurveda, this plant has the nutrients and an abundance of iron, potassium, calcium, copper, and zinc essential to support hair growth.
Tamarind also contains antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin A, niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, and folic acid which help hair bonds regenerate. Its pulp, which packs most of the nutrients, is the part of the fruit Indians use for cooking, skincare, and hair care. (My grandmother would extract all of them by boiling the pulp in water and making lovely drinks and hair rinses.) Tests on our tamarind found that it is also packed with properties like those found in hyaluronic acid, which is highly effective for skincare. In hair, it offers elasticity, provides hydration, luxuriance, and smoothness.
Moringa Oil: Moringa Oleifera is the most nutritious tree on earth, which is why it’s called the tree of life. Its leaves contain more than 90 nutrients and 46 antioxidants, alpha carotene, xanthins, kaempferol, quercetin, and rutin. The seeds are composed of 40% oil, which is light and rich in vitamins A and C, unsaturated fatty acids and GLA antiaging gamma linolenic acid. And thanks to its high levels of oleic acid, moringa penetrates and delivers nutrients deep into the skin, where it balances the secretion of sebum and fights toxins.
Wild Himalayan Cherry Oil: Himalayan wild cherry oil is found in the high altitudes of the Himalayas, between 1,800 and 3,000 metres, in shrubs that grow in sunny glades in the forest. The oil is rich in Omega 6 & 9, high in Oleic & Linoleic acids and contains fatty acids essential for glossy, healthy hair and skin. We love working with this oil as it’s made with our tribal farmers who earn a sustainable income through harvesting. The oil is produced from hand-picked wild fruits matured from May to June. Seeds are then laid out for sun drying, then cold-pressed to extract the oil, a process which preserves its nutrients.
Mango Seed Butter: Rich in vitamins A and C, Mango seed butter enhances natural colour and shine. We use it instead of harmful silicones in our hair products.
Alpine Glacier Water: Abhati Suisse is strategically located in the heart of the Alps, so we can easily harness the benefits of pure Swiss Alpine water, untouched by urban pollution. Packed with minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium, which help to absorb toxins and promote healing, the water is remarkably soft, too, which is why it’s the perfect ingredient for our gentle hair care products.
You can trust countless generations of Indian women, or you can trust the science that backs it up. With Abhati, we offer you both. by changing your hair care routine to include our gentle shampoos and conditioners, as well as adding a few drops of Chambal while massaging your scalp, you will soon notice a difference in your hair’s elasticity and shine, all thanks to these high potency ingredients.
