Indian Gooseberry (Amla), is a centuries old Indian secret to healthy hair. Native throughout India, Amla as it is also known, is a green fruit that is incredibly high in tannin and has 20 times more concentrated vitamin C than an orange. It’s the powerhouse of antioxidants and Vitamin C. We use it to encourage healthy hair growth and improve pigmentation and harness its AHA acids as a gentle exfoliant. Indian Gooseberry stimulates hair at the roots where it contributes to lustrous hair growth, preserves pigment and helps prevent premature greying. Amla is an exceptional natural conditioner that infuses hair with nutrition that protects against environmental aggressors, whilst working to strengthen follicles, promote growth and help diminish split ends, dryness and dandruff.
Moringa Oleifera is the most nutritious tree found on the earth, which is why it’s called the tree of life. Its leaves contain more than 90 nutrients and 46 antioxidants, alpha carotene, xanthins, kaempferol, quercetin, and rutin. The seeds contain 40% oil which is light and rich in vitamins A and C, unsaturated fatty acids and GLA antiaging gamma linolenic acid. And thanks to its high levels of oleic acid, it penetrates and delivers nutrients deep into the skin, where it balances the secretion of sebum and fights toxins. Use this nutritious on your face, scalp and hair.
Himalayan wild cherry oil
Himalayan wild cherry oil is found in the high altitudes of the Himalayas between 1,800 and 3’000 metres. The wild cherry shrubs are grown in sunny glades in the forest. It is rich in Omega 6 & 9, high in Oleic & Linoleic acids and features important fatty acids for glossy, healthy hair and skin. We love working with this oil as it’s made with our tribal farmers who earn a sustainable income through harvesting. The oil is produced from hand-picked wild fruits matured from May to June. Seeds are then laid out for sun drying then cold-pressed to extract the oil, a process which preserves its nutrients.
Abhati sits on the foothills of the Swiss Alps in a beautiful region called Appenzell. We source spring water from the Alpstein region. This pure water, which springs crystal clear and ready-filtered from the source, is of excellent quality and exceedingly pure. This means we are able to use it without further processing – straight from the source. Our spring water gives our products a unique purity and quality thanks to its salt and rich mineral content.
Edelweiss, or Leontopodium alpinum, is an herbaceous plant from Asteraceae family, which grows on mountain ranges in the Swiss Alps. It is a rare and strictly protected plant which boasts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Subjected to high altitude, extreme temperatures and exposure to wind and sun radiation, the Edelweiss plant has developed very desirable defence properties which we harness in some of our formulations. It features leontopodic acids A and B, Chlorogenic acid, and 3, 5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, which have anti-hyaluronidasic and anti-collagenasic activity. Also present are Phytosterols, Amino acids, polysaccharides with moisturizing properties and act as plant nutrients. In plain speak, this botanical superhero is unparalleled when it comes to protecting skin from age-accelerating free radicals and irritation.
Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip grows wild in the Himalayan Mountains where it has been used by the native people for centuries. Ours is still harvested by tribal farmers. This age defying oil is a natural source of Vitamins A & C, boosts cellular renewal, collagen production and fades sun damage. Recent studies have proven its ability to contribute to the reduction and prevention of wrinkles and age spots. Its high concentration of retinoic acid (vitamin A) helps improve cell regeneration and stimulates collagen and elastin levels, while smoothing fine lines and delivering a healthy glow. Rosehip seed oil also contains essential fatty acids and vitamin E which contribute to the reduction of pore size. We are particularly fond of its benefits to those with eczema, psoriasis, wrinkles, age spots (brown spots), scars, hyper-pigmentation and dermatitis.
